Privacy Policy
Last updated July 16, 2026
Momori is built as a private photo diary. Your core diary stays on your device, and cloud processing happens only when you choose an online AI feature.
1. Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how the Momori team ("Momori," "we," "us," or "our") handles information in connection with the Momori mobile application, our optional cloud features, this website, and support communications.
Momori lets you take or import a photo, apply a film-inspired Mood, add an emoji, note, or caption, revisit saved moments, and export Story cards. The core diary works without a Momori account.
2. Information stored on your device
Momori stores the information needed for your private diary locally on your device. Depending on how you use the app, this can include:
- original photos you take or select, locally rendered Mood versions, thumbnails, downloaded AI results, and exported Story cards;
- dates and times, Mood and adjustment choices, emoji, notes, captions, selected display versions, and local AI job status;
- app settings such as onboarding state, camera preferences, reminder preferences, and language; and
- a randomly generated device identifier stored in secure device storage and used when you access optional cloud features.
Your core diary photos and entries are not uploaded to us for backup or cloud synchronization. Momori does not provide an online profile, social feed, or cloud photo library.
3. Device permissions
Momori may ask for access to your camera so you can take photos, your photo library so you can import photos, and permission to add exported Story cards to your library. If you enable daily reminders, Momori also asks for notification permission and schedules the reminder locally using your device time zone.
You can manage these permissions in your device settings. Momori does not need access to your contacts, precise location, microphone, or health data for its core features.
4. Optional AI features
Cloud processing occurs only after you choose an AI feature. We process the following limited information to provide those features:
- AI Enhance: the currently selected, downscaled Mood version of a photo, your chosen style, an idempotency value used to avoid duplicate charges, and task status. Your untouched original photo is not uploaded for this feature.
- AI caption suggestions: your locale, Mood information, emoji, time-of-day category, optional feeling or draft text, and coarse signals produced on your device, such as scene tags, a limited set of non-identifying OCR categories, people count, brightness, and color temperature. Photo bytes are not sent for caption suggestions.
- Service operation: the random device identifier, credit balance, job identifiers, IP address, request time, endpoint, response status, and limited request-size or diagnostic information.
Information sent for AI features is processed by service providers that host our application backend or provide AI generation infrastructure. We use this information only to deliver the feature, maintain credits and task state, prevent duplicate requests, keep the service secure, and diagnose failures.
We do not use your photos to train AI models and do not authorize our service providers to use them for model training. AI providers may process data in other countries under their own security and data-processing commitments.
5. Retention and deletion
Local diary content remains on your device until you delete an entry, use the in-app delete-all control, or delete the app. Deleting a saved entry also deletes its local photos and related generated files. When a network connection is available, Momori also makes a best-effort request to delete that entry's related cloud AI job.
For AI Enhance jobs, our current server retention rules are:
- the uploaded Mood image is removed from our job store as soon as generation completes successfully;
- if generation fails, the uploaded image may be retained for retry and is removed within 24 hours after the failure;
- a completed result and its completed job record are deleted from our server within 7 days; and
- limited device, credit, failed-job, security, and operational records may be kept for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, prevent abuse, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations.
Support messages and related business records are kept only as long as reasonably necessary for support, security, accounting, and legal purposes.
6. Website and support information
This website is hosted on Cloudflare. When you visit it, Cloudflare may process technical information such as your IP address, browser and device type, requested page, referring page, timestamps, and security signals to deliver and protect the site.
The Momori legal site does not use advertising pixels, third-party analytics scripts, account sign-in, or marketing cookies.
If you email us, we receive your email address and the contents of your message. We use that information to respond, provide support, keep appropriate business records, and comply with law.
7. App Store information
If you download Momori or make a purchase through an app store, the store provider processes your account, payment, tax, receipt, refund, and download information under its own terms and privacy policy. We do not receive your full payment-card details.
The store provider may give us aggregated sales, proceeds, crash, performance, or usage information depending on your settings and its policies. We use this information to operate and improve Momori.
8. How we use and share information
We use the limited information described above to provide and maintain Momori, operate optional AI features, manage feature credits, respond to support, detect and fix technical issues, protect the service and our users, comply with legal obligations, and enforce our terms.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We may share information with service providers that help us operate cloud hosting, AI processing, website delivery, support, security, and business administration. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect rights or safety, or as part of a merger, financing, acquisition, or transfer of the service.
9. Your choices and rights
You can choose not to use AI features, manage camera, library, and notification permissions in device settings, delete individual entries, delete all local diary data in Momori settings, or delete the app.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to certain processing, or to receive a portable copy of certain information. To make a request, email support@momori.6-tai.com. We may need information reasonably necessary to locate and verify the records connected with your request.
10. Children
Momori is a general-audience app and is not directed to children under 13, or a higher minimum age where local law requires it. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children below the applicable minimum age. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us so we can take appropriate action.
11. Security and international processing
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect information. No storage or transmission method is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Our service providers may process information in countries other than where you live. Where required, we rely on appropriate legal bases and safeguards for international transfers.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as Momori changes or as required by law. We will change the "Last updated" date on this page and provide additional notice when appropriate. Your continued use of Momori after an update means the revised policy applies to future use.
